ABOUT ABOUT

With the skyrocketing inflation & high gas prices, Texas patriots are having to make some hard choices.  Many of us want to go to the Capitol for hearings or Capitol Action Days but we have to watch our travel budget very closely this year.  I think I have found a good workaround to combat inflation and encourage participation!  Let's just ride together to our State Capitol building during the 88th Legislative Session in style and skip the need for an overnight stay. I have booked a big, comfy bus to take 57 of my best patriot friends to the Capitol on Opening Day of session.

"Why would I want to be there on Opening Day?”

I’m so glad you asked! The Texas House will elect their Speaker. There is a challenger to the incumbent.   We will be there together to witness the vote.  This is the first application of pressure by the grassroots citizens for this session.  We can go by our legislators offices and talk with their staff and possibly our Representatives as a group. Bonus: You can get a little familiar with the Capitol if you’ve never been.

  • Date: 1/10/23  Tuesday
  • Why: Opening Day of the Legislative Session - They have to vote for a Speaker.  Speaker Phelan is the incumbent.  Representative Tinderholt is the challenger.

*For this trip, we do not have a stop planned. If we need to stop, we can. There is a bathroom on the bus.  In the future, we will have a stop scheduled at Buc-ee's in Temple.

*Lunch is not provided. Sack lunch is recommended. The Capitol Grill is open and they have a variety of food.  Average meal is $15 - $18 a person.

*Concealed Carry Permit holders can go through the Express Lane of Security.   You don't have to actually carry, you just need your CCL card. Know that many Texans do carry at the Capitol building.

*They will begin the session at noon.  Arriving at 9 gives us time to unload the bus, get through the security lines, make a bathroom stop and eat if you are hungry.

Restrictions

Lunch is not provided. You can bring a sack lunch or the Capitol Grill is onsite.
